New MULE PRO-MX Launched - A Midsize Side x Side Combining Work and Play

Tokyo, June 12, 2018 – Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today the launch of the 2019 MULE PRO-MX, the newest model in the tough and versatile MULE series side x sides, in the USA, Canada and Europe from mid-July.

The MULE PRO-MX was developed with the concept of being just the right size for both work and play. With a size midway between the flagship MULE PRO-FX/FXT, the MULE PRO-DX/DXT and the compact MULE SX, its major features are a sufficient loading capacity and excellent handling capabilities.

There are four variations of the MULE PRO-MX in terms of equipment and chassis color to match the application.

Main features

Engine & chassis

1. Specifically designed liquid-cooled 4-stroke single cylinder SOHC 4 valve engine (695 cm3)
In addition to excellent towing and carrying capacity, the specially designed engine has superior reliability and startability through the adoption of a fuel injection system. In addition, by combining a centrifugal clutch with a CVT transmission, the MULE PRO-MX smoothly draws out the powerful low-speed torque characteristic of a single cylinder engine.
Also, the CVT transmission is configured such that the optimum engine brake is applied when going down a slope.

Mid-size chassis with excellent maneuverability and agility
The exclusive frame designed based on the same concept as the flagship model offers both high durability and a comfortable ride by giving the rugged frame structure a certain elasticity. In addition, neither too big nor too small, the chassis size (length 2,795 mm, width 1,525 mm, wheelbase 2,005 mm) demonstrates excellent maneuverability and agility performance. The minimum turning radius is just 4.2 m, making it possible to run on complex mountain roads with curved lines and trees.

Cargo bed with excellent loading capacity and convenience
The maximum loading capacity of the cargo bed is 317 kg, and the maximum towing capacity is 680 kg. It also has a tilt function.
Equipped with tie-down points and slots for installing dividers, the MULE PRO-MX is also designed to carry loads stably. The top of the cargo bed walls is fitted with steel pipes, which can be used as a hook point or to attach accessories such as cargo boxes .



Design & equipment

1. Design that embodies rugged styling and tough performance
The exterior incorporates a design that embodies the tough performance common to the MULE series. The MULE PRO-MX is rugged not only in appearance, but also in functionality, including intake and exhaust layouts that prevent entry of water and mud, in addition to a steel diamond-plate floor and cargo bed.
2. Electronic power steering
Excluding the STD, the other three models are equipped with electronically controlled power steering which varies the degree of assist according to the vehicle speed. The steering operation is lighter in the low speed range, becoming heavier as the speed increases, providing the optimum assist according to the vehicle speed.
3. Adjustable tilt steering function
The angle (height) of the steering wheel can be changed according to the physique and preference of the driver.
4.  High-volume storage space
The MULE PRO-MX is also equipped with numerous features for convenience and comfort. A 9.1 L storage compartment is located under the front hood and an additional 5.3 L compartment is built in under the passenger seat for storage of large tools for work and play. A lockable glove box is integrated into the dash, pockets and a tray are provided in a total of four places for quick and easy storage of small items, and cup holders are installed on both the driver and passenger sides.
